Alberta (Randolph) McCalip, was born December 19,1928, in Waxahachie, Texas to the parents of JD and Sarah Randolph.

She attended school in Waxahachie until her parents relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1943. She delivered her one and only child (Norma Lee) in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1943.

She worked at the Kansas City Packing house until she grew tired of the smell of raw meat. She then got a job at the Emery Bird Thayer Department Store as an Elevator Operator. Through this job, she was able to get expensive clothes at a discount (she loved this job because she loved to dress). She finally decided to leave the department store and started work as a domestic worker to control her workdays and hours off.

Alberta joined Friendship Baptist Church in 1943 and was a faithful member until she was no longer able to attend as she wished.

She met and married her husband Theo McCalip on December 22, 1952. They were a happy, devoted couple until his death in 2018.

Her parents, her sisters, Geraldine and Ruth Helen; and favorite niece, Beverly Lloyd preceded her in death.

Alberta departed this earthly life on August 19,2026.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Norma Smith; a devoted niece, Darlene Burns; grandchildren, Michael Reams, Kellet Reams, Denicia Wilson (Khari); six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
