Alexander H. McCallop, Jr. was born December 18, 1935, to Alexander Sr. and Cleo McCallop.  He was the first child of four sons.  He was affectionately called "Brother", which led to his nieces and nephews calling him "Uncle Brother."  His parents preceded him in death.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Argentine, Kansas, under the leadership of the late Reverend Roy A. Reed.  He later faithfully served as a trustee.  He continued his servitude as an usher at Sheffield Family Life Center under the pastoral-ship of Dr. George Westlake, Sr., and George Westlake, Jr.  There he served faithfully until his health prohibited him.

Alex received his education in the Kansas City, Kansas School District, graduating from Sumner High School, Class of 1953.  He enjoyed his classmates and rarely missed a class reunion.  He continued the family legacy with an excellent work ethic and desire to give to the community.  He worked and served the community with the family business founded by his late grandfather, the R.L. McCallop Bus Service.  He was later employed by Santa Fe Railroad before moving on to serve the country of the United States Army as a para-trooper.  He retired from Exxon Mobile Company after many years of dedicated service.

Alex loved taking family vacations, traveling in his RV and camping across the country.  He also enjoyed cruises with his family.  Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers.  He loved to ride free as a member of the Easy Riders Motorcycle Club for many years.  He was very supportive of the Blackburn and McCallop-Graves-Mitchell Family Reunions (known as MGM).  He enjoyed watching westerns, baseball, football and boxing.  He just loved sports all around.  He was known to make everybody laugh and tell the funniest jokes and stories with a bit of fabrication.  The family could always depend on him sharing family history, hilarious stories or family facts.

In 2002, his life changed.  He was in need of a kidney transplant and a match was found.  The successful transplant catapulted a new normal of serving kidney patients and volunteering for many years in the Nephrology Unit at Research Medical Center.  As a result of his service he was recognized and featured on the cover of the prestigious Kansas City Business Magazine: Ingram's as a Volunteer Hero in Healthcare from Research Medical Center.  Alex also received the Melton Award from the National Kidney Foundation for Kansas and Western Missouri for his fighting spirit to live life to the fullest. We will miss Brother as he was a vital pillar in our family and community.

Alex leaves to forever cherish his memory: his beautiful wife of 43 years, Elonda McCallop of the home; two sons, Michael Words (Brandy) of KCMO and Alexander H. McCallop, III (Naheemah) of Long Beach CA; two daughters, Oramondas McCallop-Thompson and Charron Townsend; three brothers, Edward J. McCallop, Sr. (Patricia E.) all of KCMO, James F. McCallop, Sr. (Patricia A) of KCKS, Michael A. McCallop, Sr. (Susan) of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. McCallop were held Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Sheffield Family Life Center.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.
