Allen Louis Holly, Sr.'s Obituary
On May 2, 1955 Allen Louis Holly Sr. (known to his friends as Moose or Al) was welcomed to this world by his father Alfonzo Harris and Emma Jean Daniels in Texarkana, Texas. He was born after his older sister Ruthie Jean Holly, whom proceeded him in death, and was later accompanied by his younger brother Elbert James Holly.
Allen attended his aunt's church Morning Star Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Wendell Phillips School and Lincoln High school before later continuing his education at Arlington Technical College to study painting and autobody work. Allen worked at Casper Brake and Clutch for about 2 to 3 years before becoming employed at the Kansas City Water Dept. performing autobody work on the company trucks. When his time at the Water Dept. ended, he moved on to become a mechanic at Late Model Auto Parts. Allen was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer in March 2020, but later went into remission in September 2020.
Allen was a man of many talents and was so knowledgeable you could ask him anything and he'd go into a 20 to 30 minute conversation. He was always down for a game of pool, cards, and dominos at the family gatherings. Music was a huge part of his life and eventually his children's life, no matter the genre; he even took up learning to play guitar. Nothing was more perfect than spending his time surrounded by family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted and loving wife Dottie Holly; mother Emma Holly; daughter Sharina Holly (Cleveland, Ohio), son Allen Holly Jr. (A.J.), daughters Vashti Holly and Alexandria Holly (Grandview); a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grands, great grands, and MANY friends.
