Angel Jean (Draffen) Jones was born on February 29, 1936, to Velma "Morris" Walton and Elmer N. Draffen. Angel was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri.

Angel's mother, Velma; father, Elmer; and son, Marty Jones preceded her in death.

Angel was married to Cortez Jones and from that union 3 children were born.

Angel grew up in Kansas City where she attended the Kansas City, Missouri School System. Angel graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. After graduating high school, she began her nursing program at Truman Medical Center, graduating with a Nursing Certificate in 1957. Angel's career in nursing extended over 55 years in the Healthcare Industry.

She retired in 2012 from Menorah Medical Center. After retiring, Angel started working as a membership coordinator for 3 years at the Missionary Society (Ruth Circle), Women of Faith, and Solace Community.

Angel accepted Christ, at an early age, at Morning Star Baptist Church, under the direction of the late Reverend A.B. Simmons. She joined Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ under the pastorate of the late Reverend Earl Abel. She remained active until her demise.

Angel leaves behind her eldest son, Michael (Valerie ) Jones of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Michelle (James) Phillips of Gilbert, AZ; daughter-in-law, Danita Jones of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren, Jason ( Stacy) Phillips of Mesa, AZ, Ashli Phillips of Gilbert, AZ, Justin (Alexa) Phillips of Chandler, AZ, Mark (Keyona) Jones of Lancaster, CA, Asia Jones of Kansas City, MO, Anthony Jordan Jr of Dallas, TX, Christina Jordan, Kansas City, MO and Jonathan Jones of Richmond, VA; Nine great-grandchildren, Khiara Phillips, Jaylen Phillips, Joslynn Phillips, Xavier Phillips, Kharma Phillips, Chloe Jones, Ava Jones, Essence Jordan and Isaiah Jordan.
