Arleatha "Yeshimabet Weyzoro" Mays' Obituary
Arleatha E. Mays, 64, was born March 8, 1954, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Henry Mays and Ozella King. She grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Paseo High School. She was a college graduate in merchandising from Platt Community College.
Arleatha had three beautiful children. She was a master of all trades. Whatever she put her mind to, she accomplished. She was a fulltime mother and industrial seamstress and actress, vocalist, she played violin, piano, bass guitar, drums and standup bass. She starred in plays live performances, poetry readings and live radio on KKFI. She was an activist and herbalist, a community leader, a contractor, an artist who loved to paint and very spiritual.
Arleatha was given her wings September 4, 2018. Her father, Henry Mays, sister, Cherry Shirley, son, Dallas Mays, Sr., grandson, Eevanis Verge-Mays and a special friend, Ms. Myra Taylor preceded her in her homegoing.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Ozella E. King of Amarillo, TX; two daughters, Malowa Mays and Khaliah Mays; siblings, Karla J. Canada of Kansas City, MO, Hanif Mays of Amarillo, TX, Marcy Mudd of Phoenix, AZ, Edwina L. Evans of Kansas City, MO and Natasha C. King of Olathe, KS; fourteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services for Ms. Mays will be held 6:00 P.M. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Swope Park Pavilion in. Private Disposition.
