Augusta "Gussie" Manuel Terry was born to the union of Maggie B. Terry and Augusta Terry of Chicago, Ill, on July 31, 1966.  Although he was an only child, Gussie's many cousins filled the void.

Gussie attended J.C. Harmon High School (KC, KS) where his love of baseball sparked.  Upon graduation (1984), he attended Bryan Institute (OP, KS) where he obtained a certificate in Computer Programming.

Gussie never met a stranger.  He had a warm smile, a hearty laugh, a BIG heart, an engaging personality, and the gift of gab.  He was a wonderful husband, a great dad, and a faithful friend.  Gussie was also an avid bowler who obtained two 300 rings .

Gussie worked for the KC MSBL Umpire's Association as an Umpire for over 18 years. He had an intuitive mind and was continuously striving to better himself.  In November of 1994, he started his own business, "A Courier Specialist".  He later shifted his focus from packages to people and "Your Personal Chauffeur" evolved.  He was a successful entrepreneur until 2012.  In March of 2012 he started working at Tyson Foods.  He worked for Blount International until his health declined.

Gussie was raised in Gethsemane C.O.G.I.C.  He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Superintendent A.L. Scott and later Pastor Daryl D. Randolph Sr. Gussie often testified of how God used Pastor Scott to pray for him as a child, which resulted in him being healed of a hole in his heart.  Gussie was very active in the church.  He sang in the choir, played the drums, trumpet, and worked with the youth department.

In 2007, Gussie became a member of Boone Tabernacle COGIC under the leadership of Bishop L.F. Thuston.  Gussie loved his Bishop and First Lady Marion Thuston and considered Boone Tabernacle family.  He cherished the relationships he developed with the brotherhood and remained faithful in this ministry until his health began to fail.

Augusta was preceded in death by his mother Maggie B. Terry;  grandfather,  Willie Battle; grandmother Corrine Robinson; 4 uncles , 5 aunts and 2 cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Tiffany Terry of 25 years; his son Austin Terry; his daughter Paris Terry; his father Augusta Terry of Chicago, Ill; a niece, Kendyl Randolph; a nephew, Peyton Randolph; a father and mother-in-law, Perry and Linda Smith; a sister-in-law, Patisha Randolph; a god-sister, Tina Walker (Chipp); two aunts, Sammie Wilhite (Charles) of Tunica, MS., and Harriett Moses of Overland Park, KS; four uncles, McKinley Battle (Billy Ann) of Memphis, TN, Augusta Madden of Kansas City, MO, Tommy Robinson of Memphis, TN and Ronnie Robinson of Memphis, TN; and a host of cousins, friends and church family.

Services for Mr. Terry will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 27, 2018, at Boone Tabernacle COGIC with Bishop L. F. Thuston officiating.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the church.
