Barbara was born to the late Julia M. Mullins on December 24, 1936 in Kansas City, MO and reared on the Westside. She was an only child. Barbara attended Douglass Elementary and was an alumni of R.T.Coles/Lincoln High School in the Kansas City Public School System. She attended Lincoln University as a nursing major and furthered her studies, at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Joe C. Wallace for 43 years and to this union, 2 children were born.

Barbara accepted christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend I. H. Henderson, Jr. She was a member of the Junior Choir, Junior Ushers, Mission Sunshine Band, Sunday School, Baptist Training Union and Nursing ministries. Barbara was also a member of the Zebulun Sheepfold. She was a faithful servant and active member until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Barbara was recently honored in the church's newsletter for being a "70 plus year" member. She joined Friendship in 1945.

Barbara worked as an LPN at St. Joseph hospital until the birth of her first son. She then retired and became a stay-at-home mom to care for her children. After they reached school age, she returned to the workforce at St. James Learning Center. She was employed there until she retired in 2003.

Barbara is preceded in death by her aunts, Katie & Corinne, who raised her; her mother, Julia Mullins; step-father, Jake Mullins; two stepsons, Joe Edward Wallace and Lonnie Wallace; and her beloved husband, Joe C. Wallace.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Michael (Anne) Wallace of Lee's Summit, MO and David (Kiva) Wallace of Kansas City, MO; Elaine Wallace of Houston, TX; 12 grandchildren, Terri, Joe (Patrice), Justyn, Rodney, Shamika, Antoine, Darius, Miana, Shaniece, Simone, Valencia, and Ariel; 11 great grandchildren, Jovell, Jevetta, Joell, Iyana, Aaryn, A'Dyn, Saniyah, Naomi, Ikia, Cheyenne, Ariah; and a host of other relatives and friends.
