Barry Louis Mitchell, 69, peacefully died Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at his home in Kansas City, MO.

He was born in Curtis, Arkansas June 16, 1950, to Marcusie V. Mitchell and Alfred L. Mitchell.  He was the oldest of five.  He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred L. Mitchell.

He accepted Christ at an early age.  Barry graduated from Paseo in 1968, then worked for the U.S. Post Office and General Motors until retiring.  He grew up in Kansas City but always enjoyed traveling and nice cars.  He prided himself on being the best dressed and always had the latest fashion first.  Many of his closest friends had given him the nickname "Black Beauty", which was reflected in his style.  He enjoyed watching, basketball, boxing and football.   Barry enjoyed family gatherings, especially when good food was cooked and to go plates were not a problem.  His greatest joy was his children and as he became a grandfather, he liked giving them advice about life.  Only a good cowboy picture could consume his time other than sports.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Marcusie V. Mitchell; daughter, Cherronna Mitchell; granddaughter, Jordan Tiger; son, LaRon (Kristina) Mitchell; grandson, LaRon Mitchell Jr.; son, Carlton Hall; sister, Debra (Fredrick) Mitchell-Powell; brothers, Larry (Carmen) Mitchell, Jeffrey (Pamela) Mitchell and William (Panya) Mitchell; special nieces and nephews: Keivela (Kareem), Keevon, Anthony, Antwoine, Diamonisha, Porshia and Ronald (Angie) Williams, Jr., James, Jordan; special friends, Bobby Johnson, Harold Brown, Clarence Turner, Sam Mckenzie and Min. Gary Johnson and a host of friends and Family.

Memorial Service for Mr. Mitchell were held Saturday, July 20, 2019, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel. Private Disposition.
