Benjamin F. Blaylock was born on October 9, 1934, in Bryans Mill, Texas to George Blaylock and Fannie Williams. Benjamin, or "B.F." as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, grew up in Atlanta, Texas, where he had a formal education and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1952.

Benjamin moved to Kansas City, Missouri soon after graduating high school to be with family, but soon settled with his older sister Gertrude Paxton. He was eager to spread his wings as a young man in a new town and find his place in this big ole world. Once he was settled he found himself interested in the US Army and soon it was a means to support his family.

Benjamin was a man of unwavering faith and accepted Christ as his Savior early in life. Once he moved to Kansas City, Missouri he continued serving the Lord when he joined Second Missionary Baptist Church with his sister Gertrude. Soon after joining the US Army, Benjamin met the love of his life Jacqulyn Carter, whom he married on September 4, 1957, and was married for 55 years until her timely death. From this union, he and Jacqulyn raised two beautiful daughters: Renee Smith and Tracey Blaylock.

Benjamin was honorably discharged from the Army in 1959 and committed himself to another adventure at Bayer, as a Laboratory Technician. He worked there for 45 years where he was genuinely loved and valued by his co-workers. He was also acknowledged for his stellar perfect attendance. He also continued being a servant of Christ by joining Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ in 1959. There, he found himself serving as an usher. He was on the Usher Board for over 40 years touching the lives of many in his church family, until his health failed him.

Benjamin passed on October 8, 2023, and is preceded in death by his wife Jacqulyn Blaylock, daughter, Tracey Blaylock, parents, grandparents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Benjamin leaves to cherish his memories with his eldest daughter, Renee Smith (Warren); and grandchildren Tiffanie Blaylock, Jacque Brown (Melinice), Troy Blaylock, Angela Smith, and Jesse Smith (Christy); his mother-in-law, who he considered as an other, Vivian Chapple-Swindwell; and a host of great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and close extended family members.
