Betty Jene Riley was born in Kilmichael, Mississippi on December 24,1954, to Mary Earleen English and John Albert English. She was the third of 8 children.

Betty Jene was raised to love the Lord at Austin Chapel Church of God in Christ in Kilmichael, Mississippi. She loved to recall when she was baptized in a pond. Her favorite scripture to recite was John 11:35, Jesus Wept. Betty Jene attended and graduated from Kilmichael High School in 1972.  Shortly after graduation, Betty moved to Kansas City, by invitation from her Uncle James Riley (Uncle Moody), to pursue her career.  She earned an Associates Degree at Penn Valley Community College. She also studied Education at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Betty Jene has always worked in the medical field, and she only stopped working in the autumn of 2022 when she became physically unable, concluding her nearly 50 years of service at The Village at Carroll Park in Grandview, Missouri.

Betty Jene was very proud of and loved her children, grandchildren, and her entire family so very much.  She was preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Earleen English and her Sister Dorothy Jean Turner.

Betty Jene Riley leaves to cherish their memories of her, her daughters: Markeeda Virginia Riley, Olivia Marcel Riley, and Elizabeth Adaeze Okeke, and son, Andrew Cordell Riley (Candace Garett ) and bonus son, Michael Harris. Granddaughters: Imani Gabrielle Riley-Jones, Lillian RaeShell Eston-Riley and Grandsons: Justus Emmanuel Scott and Juda Austin Guillory Scott all of Kansas City, Missouri. Sisters: Bobbie Jean Dodson (Freeman Dodson) of Kilmichael, Mississippi, Mattie Margret Murphy (Hozell Murphy) of Waukegan, Illinois, Loretta Ann English of Skokie, Illinois, Mary Denise English (Larry "Spice" Griffith Jr.) of Skokie, Illinois; Brothers: Albert Earl English (Debia Humes English) of Houston,Texas, James Earl English (Cheryl White English) of Evanston, Illinois; And a beautiful host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, loved ones, and a special friend, Peter Okeke.

Since her untimely rest, many have recalled Betty's ability to affectionately distribute medicine, both mental and physical. Proverbs 17:22 says " A merry heart doeth good like medicine." Betty was known to give everyone she encountered a healthy dose of laughter. It was her personal duty to make sure people experienced joyfulness. Betty was such a caring, loving, and funny person who loved to make people smile. Even at work she had a way of making the residents laugh, feel loved, and forget about their troubles. Betty was the absolute best Mother and Grandmother, always making sure that her children and grandchildren had something special from her, to give them cheer, not only on their birthdays and holidays, but also on any regular day of the calendar.  She was the best Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, always making her loved ones laugh, be joyful, and feel special. Betty Jene Riley is already very sorely missed.
