Brenda Joyce Garrett was born November 17, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Harold Floyd Wilson, Sr. and Cora Mae Wilson. Her parents preceded her in death along with her daughter, Marla Jones; her sister, Carolyn Williams; and two brothers, Harold Floyd Wilson, Jr., and Gregory Wilson.

She went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, February 10, 2025.

She loved the Lord and attended The Mount Christian Worship Center under the leadership of Reverend Willie M. Thornton.

Brenda graduated from Paseo High School. After receiving her diploma, she began to work. She worked at Hallmark and retired after many years of service from Alice Charmers. After retiring, she volunteered at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church in the pantry.

She had three children, Gary Jones, Leon Jones, and Marla Jones. She also had eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

She was married to Linford Garrett, who preceded her in death.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Gary Jones (his close friend, Bridget), and Leon Jones; her siblings, Lillian Garner, Louis Wilson (Lynn), Lois Malone, Ernest Wilson (Jackie), Frances Wilson, Kathy Humphrey (Lyle), Timothy Wilson, and Judy Peterson (Anthony); sister-in-law, Gwen Wilson; brother-in-law, Kenneth Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
