Brenda Faye Jones , aka: "BJ" was born on July 31, 1951 to the union of Charles Jones and Minerva Avery Jones in Flint, Michigan. Brenda was their fourth child; the family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in the late 1950's. Brenda attended Allen Grade School in Old Westport and graduated from Central High School in 1970.  She is preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Charles Jones Jr. Brenda was baptized at St. James Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 6 years. During her younger years she loved to dance, play cards and board games. She looked forward to family picnics and gatherings. You could always depend on her to bring a ham, make potato salad, and do it with joy and lots of laughter.

Brenda loved styling and coloring hair. She received her graduation certificate from House of Heavilin Cosmetology School in Kansas City, Mo. Brenda was no stranger to work as she gained a wide variety of work experience. For example, she managed a Mc Donald's Fast Food Restaurant, she worked in the Kitty Clover Potato Chip Establishment and at a Uniform company before her long time janitorial career at Bishop Miege High School, in Shawnee Mission, Ks. She worked hard and was well respected as a member of the Jones' Clan. She would not allow anyone to sit on the food tables she cleaned, including the Principal.

As we look back on some of Brenda's funniest moments, we remember her getting caught in a snowstorm in the 1990's in Flint, Michigan. Several family members were trucking through the snow. All of a sudden younger sister Jenny asked, "Where is Brenda?" They looked back to find Brenda had fallen, she was laughing so hard, she couldn't get up or call for help. Younger brother ran back and threw her over his shoulder while she laughed all the way to Dad's house. Lastly, all the nieces and nephews begged their parents not to call Aunt "BJ" to babysit them because they knew they had to walk the straight and narrow. When the children acted out the parents would say, "You want me to call Aunt "BJ" No, No! They responded, "We'll act right".

In later years, when Brenda began to have health challenges, she was invited to the Chapel of Peace Lutheran Church Zoom worship and monthly Bible Study in Inglewood, California. She loved attending church on line. On July 11, 2021 she became a zoom member of Chapel of Peace L.C. where her sister, Charlene Limenih pastored. Brenda's love of family and friends was evident; she was always full of laughter and smiles and had a good word to share. Throughout her caring life she checked on everyone. We will miss her phone calls, her presence among us and so much more. Yet, we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Brenda Faye Jones leaves to cherish her memory four brothers, Floyd Avery, Sr. (Mary), Rodney Jones (Tracye), Jeffery Jones, and Roger Jones (Eugenia); two sisters, Jennifer Mc Cullough (Robert), of Kansas City, Mo. and Rev. Charlene Limenih of Los Angeles, Ca; special cousin, Meredith Ford of Flint, Mi.; longtime sisters and friends, Linette Davis and Desiree Russaw; one uncle, Russell Avery (Debbie); one aunt, Beverly Hill; Goddaughter, Maria Mosley. She also leaves a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing.
