Brenda Joyce Richard was born January 9, 1947 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Leon and Ruby Nell Bables. She was the first daughter born to this union.

After Brenda graduated from Summer High School in 1967, she went to work for the Economic Opportunity Foundation as a Teacher Aide. Brenda was enrolled in an Act School, where she developed her talent for drawing particularly. She really enjoyed drawing and painting.

She was a dressmaker who made her own clothes. During her early childhood years, she attended St. John's Temple Church of God in Christ where Elder John Hannah was the pastor.

During her teenage years, our mother transferred the family membership to the Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ where she sang in the Inspirational Choir. Her faith was always strong. She attended many church meetings throughout the community.

Brenda married Eddie Charles Richard, in 1974, at Young's Memorial Church of God in Christ in Kansas City, Kansas. Their wedding reception was held at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center. She and husband, who is a Music Minister, attended many churches together throughout the Kansas City, Kansas area. They were married for 51 years. To this union, one daughter, Twinkie Coretha Richard was born at Bethany Medical Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

After she left EOF, she obtained her Kansas State License to operate a Day Care Center in her home. Brenda was always the go-to lady for childcare for her family members as well as the general public. She loved the wonderful children. She was a loving wife to Eddie. She always cooked his favorite meals and made sure their home was comfortable.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bables; her brother, and her sisters, Betty Louise Bables, Emma Lee Bables and Jessie Marie Bables.

She leaves to  cherish her memories, her husband, Eddie Charles Richard; daughter, Twinkie Coretha Richard; grandsons, Zaccheaus Smith, Lawrence Henderson, Jr., and Larenz Henderson; granddaughter, Justice Brown; and great-grandchild, Lynex Henderson; sister, Marilyn Marie Bables; nephew, Christopher Tyrone Bables; niece, Torrie; nephews, Micheal Garrett, James Kinney, and Julius Bables; and a host of great nieces, nephews, family-in-laws on the Richard side, church, and friends everywhere.
