Brenda Devault Walker's Obituary
Brenda DeVault Walker was born February 24, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her mother, Tommie Theresa DeVault, April 5, 2017 and her brother Louis Calvin Montgomery March 7, 2017.
She was a great student of education, who excelled at reading, writing and math at Holmes Avenue Elementary, Edison Jr. High and Huntington Park High School all located in Los, Angeles, CA.
After High school, Brenda married Lee Norris Walker in 1978. They had one child together, Nekedia Walker. Later in life she had another child named Tiona Evans, who resides in Texas.
Her hobbies included, reading books, listening to music and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Brenda loved Christ The King Church where she worked as a Child Care Provider. She dedicated her life to taking care of the children there.
Brenda was ever calm and serene. Her character and temperament can be best shown from the time she was diagnosed with stage four Lung Cancer earlier this month, until her passing to heaven. Brenda had every right to cry, be mad or even fall into depression after her diagnosis, but instead she remained strong and she loved and lived every moment she was given. Neither hard times nor cancer would rob her of who she was. Always graceful until God called her home.
Brenda will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic mother who always had a smile on her face, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength, she never complained and always looked to a better future no matter the circumstances.
She leaves behind her two lovely daughters, Nekedia Marie Walker and Tiona Evans; three beautiful sisters who she loved very much, Jan Washington, Tracy Montgomery and Beatrice Bedell all of California, now residing in Kansas City; six grandchildren, Nikolas Walker, Glenn Batteau, James Earle, Tiaria Earle, Dominick Batteau and Tiajanae Halliburton and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Walker were held Saturday, May 19, 2018, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.
