Calvin Johnson, 69, was born on April 30, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. Calvin was raised in Kansas City, Missouri to the parents of Curly and Elma Johnson.

Calvin Johnson, departed this life August 30, 2022. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and beloved grandmother, Alice Randle.

Calvin attended Stanford B. Land Elementary and graduated as a proud Blue Eagle of Central High School in 1971. While at Central, Calvin was a running back for the 1969 football team, which made it to the state semi-finalist. And was an alternate for the Mighty Blue Eagles track team that qualified for state in the early 1970's.

After his high school career in sports ended, Calvin was employed by Harold Penners Clothing Store. Shortly thereafter, Calvin followed his dream and became a Kansas City Firefighter for 10 years.

Calvin enjoyed bowling, family gatherings, watching football and basketball. Calvin became a member of Jamison Memorial Temple CME, under, Reverend Doctor Faith A. Allen.

Calvin is survived by his children: Calvin Neal Johnson (CJ), Terrance Porter, Daniel Williams, Carl Finney (Veira), and Arla Finney. Siblings: Alice Jordan, Brinda Johnson, Carl Johnson (Traci), and Dwayne Johnson. Grandchildren, nieces, nephews (special nephew Jay Johnson), cousins, and friends. All of them from Kansas City, Missouri.

Services for Mr. Calvin Johnson will be held at 1:00 P.M. on September 9, 2022 at Jamison Memorial Temple CME church, 3115 E. Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City Missouri 64128. Private disposition.  Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
