Carole E. Overbay's Obituary
Carole E. Overbay was born on November 7, 1934, to Walter Kyle and Julia Schmidt Kyle in Kansas City, Kansas.
As a young woman she met her husband of 63 years, Melvin G. Overbay Sr. at the boarding house her grandmother ran. They were blessed with 4 children, Melvin Jr., Kathy, Deborah and Cindy.
Carole worked all of her adult life. First for Ralston Purina as data entry clerk and then as a trainer for others in the field. She also worked many years for Dean Machinery and Commerce Bank. She loved to be involved in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lives, including sports and school activities. Carole especially loved to play Bingo and looked forward to it every week.
Carole passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Sr. her only son Melvin Jr., her parents and 6 siblings.
Carole leaves to cherish her memory 3 daughters and spouses, Kathy and Everett Sams, Deborah and Eric Peterson, Cindy and Kenny Ridenour; grandchildren, Trina, Ben, Jennifer, Justin, Jason, Jackie, Jeff,, Brad, Kelli, Kyla and Tyrell; great-grandchildren: Marshia, Noeal, Austin, Brianna, Kelli, Gabriel, Anya, Dusty, Collin, Ethan and Landon and a host of family and friends.
When the Bingo Caller said 073, Granny yelled "Black Out." Then flew on Angel's wings to the Bingo Game in the sky.
Services for Mrs. Overbay will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Elliott S. Eley, II officiating. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the chapel and 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the chapel.
