Carrie Inez Edgar (Utley) was born on July 6, 1952, to the union of Ernest Utley Jr. and Faye Utley (Jones) in Kansas City, MO, growing up with her sister, Tarenda Utley. Carrie attended school in the Kansas City area.

She began working as a nurse's aide at KU Medical Center. She would then devote herself to raising her children full time. Once her children were raised to adulthood, she returned to the workforce as a home health aide at HomeCare of Mid-Missouri before retiring in 2018.

At an early age, Carrie accepted Christ into her life and later joined Emmanuel Church where she was a member for 30 years. Throughout her life, Carrie held a great love for the Lord, teaching her children the Word and taking them all to church every Sunday. In her quiet time, you could find her reading her Sunday School lessons and underlining passages in her Bible. She also enjoyed watching her westerns and black and white movies, pointing out the actors she enjoyed to anyone who would listen.

Her love for her family was immense and will be missed and never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Utley and Faye Jones; her sister, Tarenda Utley; a son, Lincoln Edgar III, and her former husband Lincoln Edgar.

Carrie's greatest pride and achievement in life were her children, of which she would say she had eleven children.

She leaves to cherish in memory: her children, Robert Utley, Terrie Utley, Courtney Edgar, Carrie F. Edgar, Tarenda Dilworth, Stallone Utley, and Candie Hill; her uncle, Oscar Lasker; aunt, Sheila Lasker; niece, Kimberly Tolbert-Atkinson; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter and host of extended family.

Services for Ms. Edgar were held Thursday, September 30, 2021, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Burial Blue Ridge Lawn Memorial Gardens.
