Cassandra "Sandy" Jean Jones-Smith was born October 15,1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the first-born child of Oscar Jr. and Jacqueline Jones.

Sandy was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, graduating from Central High School in 1969. After graduating, she began working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, (known today as AT&T), where she maintained her employment until retiring in late 2005.

Sandy's love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ began at an early age, attending Spruce Avenue Baptist Church, where she was baptized under the leadership of Reverend Roy Winters. Later in life, Sandy re-dedicated herself to Christ, uniting with Westminster Baptist Church in 1987, which would be her church home until her passing. Sandy then topped that year off with a New Year's Eve wedding to Jasper Smith on December 31st!

Sandy had a zeal for life and a tremendous love for family! She regularly indulged in family cookouts and awesome family game nights!  Whether it be Pokeno, Spades, Bidwhist or beating the fellas in a great game of Knock, Sandy loved every minute of it!  However, you might want to skip the game of Dirty Hearts with her because the tears would flow if she got stuck with that Queen of Spades in her hand! She could spend the day watching DVD after DVD because she loved her movies! Sandy was old school at heart - the music, the dancing and oh yes - she could definitely cut a rug! She was also an avid sports fan - attending her annual Kansas City Royals baseball game with her mom and siblings and you would not find a bigger fan of the three-time Super Bowl World Champion Kansas City Chiefs!! SHE LOVED HER CHIEFS!

Sandy was preceded in death by both parents; one brother: David "DJ"; two sisters: Donna Marie and Brenda Joyce; one brother-in-law: William B. Craddock.

Sandy leaves to cherish her memories ~ three children: Maurice Jones (Marie); Chernice "Teenie Weenie" Jones; Gregory "Puggy" Jones (Christine); eight grandchildren: Marlon, Shakayla, Shaquana, Keonya, Malcolm, Ayden, Aaliyah and Michael; three siblings: Oscar "Bud" Jones III (Juannette); Steven L. Jones (Sharon); Hattie E. Craddock; special friend: Joe Levels; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services for Mrs. Jones-Smith will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Shalom M.B. Church Burial XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
