Charles Edward McBeth was born May 25, 1949, in Aberdeen, Mississippi to the parents Tom "Bay" and Virginia McBeth.  He was the third eldest of eight children.  His parents and eldest sister, Barbara Jean Johnson preceded him in death.

Charles moved with his family from Aberdeen to Kansas City, MO in 1959. As a boy, he dreamed of the future.  He attended Central High School until he proudly entered the workforce.  Charles wanted to have the ability to buy the finer things in life and his first job at Peerless Window Company gave him the opportunity to do that. Charles moved on to work at Hallmark Cards and then landed the job that would change his life in numerous ways.  He began work at Ford Motor Company on September 27, 1972, in the Truck Division.  Working at one of the big three car companies was coveted by most and a significant accomplishment in those days.  It offered him financial security, co-worker friends to laugh with, and the ability to contribute to the lives of his family whenever called upon.  Charles was also a committed member of the UAW who awarded his daughter the UAW WALTER REUTHER scholarship to attend college in the late 90s.   After decades of service with ups and downs, and great wear and tear on his body, Charles retired from Ford in the year 2000.

When Charles was 17, he met his "partner-in-crime" and life, Serena Session.  Charles and Serena married on February 3, 1968, and to their union, two daughters were born, Erica and Ayana.

Charles lived his life on his own terms.  He often struggled with personal battles.  Sometimes, he fought and lost; occasionally, with the help of his family, he dug deep and won.  On many of those occasions, his siblings lifted him up with their love and support, and even offered a couch or two!  Through it all, he would always have a laugh, and make others around him chuckle at his dry wit.  Charles loved music, dancing, and dressing in his finest for nights out.  He loved, loved, loved to turn "those corners" in his Cadillac of the moment.  But, when times were quiet and still, he also enjoyed flopping in front of the TV to watch a movie or his beloved sports – any that he could find – and talking through them the entire time!  For all who knew and loved him, there won't be a day that goes by where you won't close your eyes and hear him say "Mannnnn" and think of his smile, the good times and that charming spirit.

Charles leaves to celebrate his life and memory: his daughters, Erica McBeth (Charles Hazley III), Ayana McBeth and their mother, Serena McBeth, all of Kansas City, MO; his sisters and brothers, Tom McBeth, Riverdale, GA, Gregory Pace, Lenexa, KS, Amos McBeth, Cynthia McBeth, Sonia McBeth, Robert McBeth, all from Kansas City, MO; grandson, Evan Hazley; granddaughters, Elin Hazley; Lisa  Colbert (Wesley) GeAnn Pace, Alaina Clark, Channing McBeth, Tonee' Stuckey, Cherrie McBeth, and Eric McBeth, loved ones from across the region, and a few old friends.

You were a living unicorn among us. Unique in every way; untamed and individual in the path you chose.  Sleep well Brother, Uncle, Father, Grandfather, and Friend…

Memorial Services for Mr. McBeth will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.
