Cheryl Louise McKinney, age 62, of Independence, MO passed away on January 14, 2023. She was born on December 6, 1960 in Springfield, MO to Jerry M. Johnston and Peggy L. Johnston. She was the oldest of two children.

Cheryl grew up in Kansas City, MO close to family and friends. She and her ex-husband Carl Berberich welcomed their daughter Monica in February of 1981. She never missed reaching out to tell her daughter happy birthday. During their years of marriage Cheryl was primarily a homemaker caring for their daughter. Together they enjoyed family vacations and attending concerts.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Jerry Johnston, niece Mandy Taute, and husband Donnie McKinney. She is survived by her daughter Monica Wilson, grandchildren Nafabyan and Dakota Wilson, mother Peggy Johnston, sister Pamela Taute (Louis), nieces Tabatha and Shelly, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
