Clara Jean Smith, age 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Kansas City Hospice in Kansas City, Mo.  She was born July 31, 1957, in Fort Worth, Tx to Bobby Lee Lenear and Betty (McGowan) Lenear.

She is preceded in death by her Father Bobby Lee Lenear; Mother Betty Jo (McGowan) Lenear; Four Brothers, James McGowan, Oliver McGowan, Donald Ray McGowan and Darrell Lenear; One Sister, Linda Hanson.

She attended I.M. Terrell High School and achieved her dream of becoming a beautician, receiving her cosmetology license in the late 1980's.  In the late 1990's, Clara moved to Liberal, Ks, where she resided until 2013 and relocated to Kansas City, Mo.

Clara truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, snacking, listening to the blues and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Clara had an uncanny ability to make friends and conversation with anyone she encountered.

She is survived by her sister, Connie McGowan; Sons, Bobby (Tammy) Lenear and Montreal (Casey) McGowan; Grandsons, Brent Lenear, Kobe & Jordan McGowan; Granddaughters, Tia Lenear and Jada McGowan; Nephews, Thurston McGowan, Kerrick McGowan, Joshua Lenear and Antonio Hanson; Nieces, Shenika McGowan & Shani Robinson; and many great nephews and nieces.

Service for Ms. Smith will be held 12:00 P.M. Sunday, January 17, 2021, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Private disposition.  Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until service time Sunday at the chapel.
