Clyde Banks' Obituary
Clyde Banks was born October 7, 1948 in Waco, Texas but lived in Kansas City, MO the latter part of his adult life. Born to Jack and Lythel Banks, he was the youngest son of five siblings. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church under Reverend W. H. White, Sr.
Clyde was called to glory on Tuesday – August 28, 2018. He is preceded by his parents; brothers, Wilbert Wiseman, Jahue Wiseman and sisters, Corine Wiseman Pettit, Wanda Faye Canada.
Clyde was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, he was employed with the United States Postal Service, Black & Veatch and the City of Overland Park where he dedicated over 18 years as one of the first African-American Inspectors before retirement in 2005.
Known for his wisdom and caring spirit, Clyde lived his life, the way that he wanted, with no regrets. He loved and enjoyed his family and having fun with friends. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh, love of sweets, playing dominoes, enjoyment for Oldies-Goldies music and passion for driving and collecting cars.
Clyde had such an enthusiasm for cars that he became a part of a Corvette Club. And in fact, while living in Denver, he bought and sold so many cars for himself, the State of Colorado told him that he would need a dealer's license before he could buy anymore.
Clyde was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He touched the lives of many and will always be cherished. Clyde leaves to treasure his memories daughter Sonja Lynae, son Derrick Bianco (Emily), and two grandchildren Alexus and Justin. He will also be missed by special cousins Tommy Stowers, Sr., Betty Bradley and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Banks will be held 12:00 P.M. Monday, September 10, 2018, at Rescue Baptist Church. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Monday at the church.
