Craig W. Boyd, Jr. of Kansas City, MO was born to the union of Craig and Lahoma Boyd September 6, 1949, in Chicago, IL. Both parents, one brother, Carl Dure; a sister Cheryl Boyd; one son, Carl Dure, a daughter, Candence Boyd and a grandson, Byran "Bara" Anderson preceded him in death.

He was a member of Holy Light Missionary Baptist Church.  As a young boy he would wonder why he was required by his mother to attend choir rehearsal.  His mother always told him, because you can sang.  He was a member of Holy Light's choir, the Men choir and the Lincoln Alumni Choir.

Craig had a heart for music and he loved to lift his voice anytime night or day.  He was a storyteller and would enlighten you with all his fondest memories.  He would always start by saying "Remember that time…"  Those who truly knew him, knew his heart was pure and filled with joy.

Craig departed this life at home on Friday, March 6, 2020, with his wife by his side.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 50 years, Carol Boyd; daughters, Charisse Brewster (Michael), Natale Curtis (Rick) and Tammy Fugate; sons, Larry and Randy Curtis; siblings, Lynn Muhammad and LaShawn Ross; grandchildren, Mikeise, Ca'Raih, Tamika, MyKing, Michael Jr., Raymont, Derell, Randy, Tyisha and Jonis and a host of great-grandchildren.  Craig loved his nieces and nephews and for many he had special names he called them: Chante' "Whobby's girl", LeRonce "Ronce", LeAndre "De Dock", Marteze "Dong Fine", LaShay "Sha", Zonana "Donggie", Lynn "Lil Lynn", Trisha "Torrie", Tera "Dr. Monkey, Radisha "Disha" and Tommy "Soldier" along with a host of other nieces, and nephews.

Services for Mr. Boyd will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 13, 2020, at Holy Light Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call from 12:00 P.M. until service time Friday at the church.
