Darcel C. Ray was the fourth child born to the union of Howard Denver Ray, II and Gloria Ernestine Ward Ray.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother, Anna L. Ray, brothers, John M. Ray, James A. Hughes, Edmond L. Hughes,, Gregory W. Hughes and Eric C. Hughes.

He graduated from Paseo High School and attended the University of Kansas.  He enlisted in the military and served both in the Army and Marines.  Darty as he was known to family and friends was very crafty.  He enjoyed tinkering with electronics and was an avid sports fan.  He was a backup quarter back for the Junior Varsity Jay Hawks at the University of Kansas.  Darcel was employed at the Genesis Fitness Center on Ward Parkway.

He leaves to celebrate his homegoing and cherish his memory: a daughter, Danielle Ray; son Ryan Martin Ray both of KCMO; brothers,  Howard Denver (Ethelene) Ray III, Mark S. (Belinda) Hughes of Deepwater, MO, Kevin A. (Beverly) Ray of Lubbock TX, Curtis G. Hughes, Chad L (Donna) Hughes, Sean K. (Keba) Ray all of KCMO; sisters, Joann (Rothwell) Bridgeforth of Mission Viejo, CA, Sharon E. President of KCMO, Annette M. Cole of Dallas, TX, Kim (Edward) Patrick of KCMO, Gayle D. Ray of Columbus, OH and Millicent R. (Terry) Edwards of Shawnee Mission, KS and a host of other relatives.

Services for Mr. Ray will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Private Disposition.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the chapel.
