David Benjamin Brazil entered his earthy life April 24, 1948. He was the oldest of seven children born to the union of Euria and Miriam Brazil of Panama City, Panama. David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Llowelyn E. Brazil; sister, Shelia Delmira Acosta; son, David Euria Brazil; and granddaughter, Raven D. Brazil.

David grew up in the Republic of Panama. He came to the United States in 1978, and became a legal citizen in 1983. He served in the military of the Republic of Panama for 16 years in the Elite Special Forces Army and in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant. He was an expert Yawara-Jitsu Instructor, a martial art for self-defense, at the Shotokan Karate Club, KCMO, where he earned a brown belt third-degree. David was also a recognized Olympian in National Championship Boxing.

His travels around the world included: Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Cuba Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Venezuela, and Bolivia. David spoke four fluent languages: Spanish, French (Patois), Italian, and English.

David was a member of Tri- City Missionary Baptist Church, KCMO. He later joined Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church, KCMO under the leadership of Pastor Culton Hamilton and was licensed as Minister in 1988. He faithfully served as an Associate Minister and Sunday school teacher. David joined Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, KCMO in 1991, under the leadership of Rev. Robert Holt. He was ordained in 1997, and faithfully served the church as an Associate Minister. David also served as an Associate Minister at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Robin Morgan.

David was happily married to Rev. Julia Brazil and together they had a blended family of fourteen adult children and over twenty-five grandchildren. David was known to be the best domino player in town and enjoyed playing with his friends and family. He also loved to read the Bible and his favorite book was Matthew and favorite scripture Psalms 34:8 , "O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." (KJV)

The Rev. David Benjamin Brazil entered Eternal life Friday, March 25, 2022, at the home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his faithful wife, Rev. Julia Brazil; Sons; Harlem B. Brazil (Brigina), Andy S. Brazil, Tito & Antiono Brazil, Pierre Moreland (Candice), Eli Brazil, Joshua Brazil (Kizzie), Daniel Brazil, Erik Street, Antjuan Hamby, and Deric Slaughter (Ashley); daughters, Elizabeth J. Brazil, Tamika L. Hamby (Bass), Dana Rush, and Stacy Rush; brothers, Edison F. Brazil (Rufina), Ricardo Brazil (Rose); sisters, Joy E. Hawkins, Indiana Laster (Brazil), Olivia C. Brazil, and a host of aunts, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His loving personality, charm and foreign language accents will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for Rev. Brazil will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 8, 2022, at Second Baptist Church.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service timeFriday at the church.
