Deacon Calvin Douglas Willis, Sr. was born on July 8, 1937, at Lake Providence Hospital in Louisiana to Roosevelt Willis Sr. and Nelly Johnson – Willis. His parents, two sisters, and three brothers proceeded him in death.

Deacon Calvin was a member and Deacon at Evangelist Temple Church under the leadership of Bishop Willis.

Deacon Calvin was awarded and award for being a member of the Barber Association for 60 years.

Deacon Calvin enjoyed barbequing. But as a kid, he enjoyed riding his father's horse, playing baseball and fishing. Family time and cutting hair, which was his life work for 60 years, and vacationing with his wife. He loved talking about the Lord and was well known in the community and touched so many people's lives.  Calvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Pops was a good man with a quiet soul and a gentle spirit.

After leaving home at an early age, Calvin came to Kansas City, Missouri. He married LeAudrey Sanders in 1965. Out of that union were botn three children. Calvin Willis Jr. (Demetricia), David Willis (Telia), Carlita Willis-Stallings (Darrin).

Deacon Calvin leaves his wife, Margaret Ann Willis, of 43 years, with four children and one deceased; four sisters, Henreitta Toney of Osseo, MN, Margaret Huges of Proper, TX, Rosemary Dodds of Grandview, MO, and Virginia Wallace of Bolingbrook, IL; one brother, Nathaniel Willis of Leavenworth KS; one sister–in–law, Joyce Willis of Omaha, NE; and over 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
