Deacon Howell Houston Jr., was born on November 15, 1947, in Liberty, Mo., to Mary Alice and Howell Houston Sr. He was preceded in death by both parents.

Howell attended Garrison School, Ridgeview Elementary, and a graduate of Liberty High School class of 1966. He attended Southwest Missouri State University for three years. Howell "Brother" Houston married the Love of his life Marcia A. Caruth on June 5, 1977. Who also preceded him in death. Together they had four children, Howie, Cia Marie, Anthony and Laniesha.

He was a mail clerk for the Liberty Public Schools and an educational paraprofessional for the Kansas City Missouri School District. He retired from Kansas City Public Schools in 2013 and began working in the kitchen at Camp Palestine in the Summers. He loved being at the camp.

He gave his life to Christ at the age of 8 years old and was baptized by the late Rev. W. L. Blake at First Baptist Church in Liberty, MO.

He was an active and involved member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ in Kansas City, Mo. He was a Deacon on the Deacon Board, Male Chorus Choir Director, member of the Fellowship Choir, Brotherhood Ministry, Prison Ministry, Prayer Partner, Adult Sunday School Class member, Praise Team and many other ministries.

He sang with Mary Bryson and the Gospel Variations on Live T.V. he was always willing to help where needed, he had a passion for art and painted pieces that are displayed at the Garrison School, located in Liberty, MO. He cherished his family and would do anything to make life a little easier. He loved doing the Lord's work, he had church everyday in his home and was a firm believer of the scripture that states "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." He lived the life he led. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved his flowers.

Howell affectionally known as Brother, Big Bubba, Uncle How, and Pops departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Advent Health / Shawnee Mission Medical Center while doing the Lord's work.

He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He touched many lives and was a living testimony of the works of God. He leaves to celebrate his life and memories, his children, Howell "Howie" Houston III (Tina) Cia Marie, Anthony and Laniesha Houston Parks(Todd) all of Liberty, Mo.; sister Lorretta Strawn (James), Independence, MO; Sisters-in-law, Patricia Summers Westbrook (James), Kansas City, Mo., Dorine Woodard (Murray), Raytown, Mo.; nieces Mischa Fort (Andy), Brittany Stallings (Marcus), Tracy Ridgely, and nephews Justin Strawn (Dione), Derrick Summers (Angela), Daimen Summers, Murray Woodard Jr, Daniel Woodard and Maurice Woodard; foster son Jonah Johnson. He also leaves his wild bundles of joy, Erika, Iverson, Bianca, Donny, Cassiopeia, Trinity, Antonio, KayLynn, Arianna, Akari, Dejahnel, Tazionna, and Devonte. He will also truly be missed by his God Children Leonard Butler III, Shanan Finley, Rachel Ibok; Godgrand's Emiya, Lyric, Langston, Madison, Leonard IV and a host of many other bonus children, relatives, co-workers, and friends.

Services for Deacon Houston will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 10th, 2021 at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ. Burial Mount Moriah Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time, Saturday, at the church.
