Deborah A. Henry, 60, of Leavenworth, KS made her transition into eternal peace and rest on May 2, 2020, from smoke inhalation at her home.  Deborah was lovingly known as "Kook", "Big Sis", "Debbie", "Mom", "Dee", "Ms. Deb", "Dragon Lady" and Gunsmoke."  She was born in Mojave Desert, CA as the oldest child of the late Billie Henry and Frankie Stewart.

Deborah's parents and brother moved to North Chicago, IL, where she spent her childhood traveling to places like Arizona, California, Mississippi, and Texas.

She was a highly educated young adult who attended Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, IL on scholarship.  After graduation Deborah took college classes and began working in the family businesses; a construction company that remolded homes/buildings and a nightclub where she began her career in procurement, she purchased materials, supplies and processed documents.

She was a beautiful young adult that served her community, she worked at the Waukegan Developmental Center in Waukegan, IL and Lambs Farm in Libertyville, IL she provided care to developmentally delayed young adults and she volunteered at various Nursing Homes with the elderly in North Chicago, IL and Waukegan, IL.

Deborah entered a romance and was married to the late James Bailey.  They raised four children while living in Waukegan, IL, Zion, IL, Kenosha, WI, Denver, CO, and they settled in Leavenworth, KS.

Deborah was employed by the Department of Veteran's Affairs Leavenworth, as a House Keeping Aid, then a Human Resource Specialist and finally a Procurement Technician and she medically retired in 2017.  After retirement Deborah enjoyed spending time with her family and friends where she would talk of the past and she fondly reminisced of fishing.

Deborah was a daughter, sister, wife, and mother/father who was extremely stern at times, but she loved hard and she was loved by many, we will miss her terribly, and she will always be in our hearts and thoughts.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Henry and Frankie Stewart; her husband James Bailey; brother, Eric Henry and sister, Millie Henry.

She is survived by: her four children, Marcus (Christopher) Henry of Kansas City, KS, Frankie Henry, James Henry, and Ruth Henry; 7 grandchildren; brother, Mozell Williams, Jr., all of Leavenworth, KS; sister, Zenja (Earl) Henry-Owens of Peyton, CO, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Deborah loved her 7 grandchildren greatly and she was looking forward to loving on her first great- granddaughter due to be born in August 2020.

Spreading of Ashes will be at a later date.
