Deloris Jean Washington was born to proud parents Vernon & Sylvia Barton on October 3, 1932. Deloris transitioned this life on October 31, 2021 to go be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and oldest son Michael.

Deloris graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She met her husband James Edward Washington and to this union was born 6 children.

Deloris accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. She worked tirelessly with her communities where she fellowshipped. For many years, she sent out cards of encouragements to her church families as well as her personal families. She was involved with the Help Ministry and taught bible study. She was also involved in the Small Group Ministry and Prayer as well as serving on the Usher Board and Greeter's Ministry. She served in all these capacities in California and Kansas City MO.

Her work in the community consisted of; preparing hygiene bags, working with the women of New Springs Community Church making bed mats from recyclable bags for the homeless, pillows and throw blankets for the convalescent homes and dialyses patients as well as made pillows for blood transfusion patients in honor of her great granddaughter in Los Angeles, CA. She extended her hand from gospel preaching to gospel living. One of her biggest joys was reading the Holy Bible and having bible study with her children. This was her life!

At the time of her transition, Mother Washington was an active member of the Mother Board and an usher at her church, Victory Temple Christian Life Center.

Mother Washington leaves to cherish her memory: 5 children, Celeste Barton, Grain Valley, Mo., Sylvia Richards, Fontana, CA., James Washington, Blue Springs, Mo., Frances Harding, Blue Springs, Mo., Duane Washington (Shirley), Blue Springs, Mo., Brother-in-Law, Nathaniel Washington (Mattie), Kansas City, Mo., Sister-in-Law, Teresa Kirk, San Bernadino, CA., 10 grandchildren, 33 Great grandchildren, 11 great -great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Services for Mrs. Washington will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 12, 2021, at Victory Temple Christian Life Center.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 10:00 A. M. until service time Friday at the church.
