DOROTHY HELEN SMITH was born June 30,1930, in Doddridge, Arkansas, to Eddie Stewart and Lebetha (Patton) Stewart. She was the oldest of eight, and raised in Arkansas until age nine, when the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1939. Dorothy Helen attended Attucks Elementary and graduated from Rt Coles/Lincoln High School in 1948 and afterwards, attended college for one year.

In 1949, Dorothy Helen met and married her beloved husband, Sam Smith Jr. to the union of 44 years, six children (2 girls and 4 boys) were born, whom she loved dearly. She devoted her time faithfully to her husband as his wife and to her children as a loving mother, teaching them how to pray, tithe, and having weekly bible study with them in the home. After many years serving her family as a homemaker, Dorothy Helen decided to work outside the home. She worked for nearly 20 years in government sector. First, she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Then, she worked at the Internal Revenue Service. Finally, she worked at the Social Security Administration for thirteen years, from where she retired.

Dorothy Helen gave her life to the Lord in 1946 at the age of 16 under the leadership of the Late Bishop S. R. Chambers, founder of The Evangelist Temple House of Refuge for All Nations, C.O.G.I.C. It was at this church where she raised her children teaching them the way of the Lord. Whild under the Late Bishop S. R. Chamber's tutelage, she served as Radio Announcer, Sunday School teacher, YPWW President and received her missionary license. Dorothy Helen, faithfully, served at Evangelist Temple until 1974, when the Lord spoke to her and led her to Faith Mission Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Hubert Lamber, Sr. At Faith Mission, God used Missionary Smith in various roles, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible Class Teacher, President of the Missionary and Deaconess Board, Pastoral Aide and Anniversary Committee. Dorothy Helen believed in outreach outside the four walls of the church, assisting the late Charles Isaac, founder of the The Miracle House, counseling and ministering the Word to men as they gave their lives to Christ. She was a prayer warrior, and soldier for the Kingdom, preaching and teaching the Word of God. Many souls were saved under her ministry, as she led by example, living, talking, and walking upright before the Lord.

On Monday, July 7th, Dorothy Helen heard and obey, again, the voice of the Lord to come take her rest and she will finally hear those words, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter the Kingdom of the Lord." She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Sam; her sister Flora Stewart and her brother Charles Stewart.

Dorothy Helen leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters Brenda Joyce Allen (Vernon) of Carrollton, Texas and Maurita Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; four sons Ronald Lee Smith (Ruby) of Kansas City, Missouri, Kenneth Ray Smith ((Heidi) of Grand Junction, Colorado, Geral Wayne Smith (Maxine) of Royse City, Texas, Gregory Raynard Smith (Sutton) of Kansas City, Missouri; 20 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren; 10 Great-Great Grandchildren; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
