Eartha Lee (McCutchen) Silveira, nick-named Maimie by family, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022, at the age of 77, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.  Eartha was born on July 7th, 1945, and raised in Bishopville, South Carolina by the late Samuel and Lottie (Simon) McCutchen. Eartha, who sometimes spelled her name Ertha, was the youngest of 8 brothers and sisters. Six of which preceded her in death.

She moved to the New York City, New York area with family members as a young person. She lived in Harlem, New York and enjoyed spending time with her many brothers, sisters, and extended family.

In 1968 she had a whirlwind romance with Jorge M Silveira after being introduced by their mutual friends, Flora and Leland Porter. Eartha and Jorge married on June 29th of the same year, and ultimately raised their 3 children; Samantha, Jared, and Jochen.

Eartha and Jorge moved to Kansas City in the mid-'80s and after the death of her husband in 1990, Eartha remained in the Kansas City area. She lived a quiet life focused on her children.

She enjoyed going to concerts and outdoor events and venues. She never said no to a good cheeseburger or a great pastry. She was humble and enjoyed living a quiet life. She was always ready for a good laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. She remained close to her family.

Left to cherish her memories: her 3 children, Samantha Silveira of Kansas City, KS; sons, Jared Silveira of Kansas City MO and Jochen Silveira (fiance Alice Ames) of Mission KS; her sister, Janie Hudson and her 4 children; her loving sister-in-law Janet McCutchen; her large extended family of nieces and nephews; and her long-time friend Flora and Leland Porter and their family.

To honor her memory, the family will have a private viewing to precede cremation. We will announce a celebration of life at a later date to be determined.
