Eddie King, Jr., was born August 21, 1929, in Scottsville, TX to the union of Eddie King, Sr. and Georgia Daniels King.  He was the fourth child of eight children, four boys and four girls.  His father, mother and four siblings, Charles, Eva Mae, Oretha and Samuel preceded him in death.

Eddie joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Waskom, TX and was baptized at the age of twelve.  He attended Village Creek Elementary School and George Washington Carver High School in Karnack, TX.  On graduating high school, he received a football scholarship to Prairie View College in Prairie View, TX. However, before entering college he was drafted into the U. S. Army, in 1951, and was deployed to Korea on assignment to fight on the front line where he received the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge w/carbine bar, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge.

Eddie and Carolyn Williams met on the Wiley College campus in Marshall, TX in 1952.  They married the following year on July 3 ^rd in Shreveport, LA.  To this union on child was born, Etta Carol King.  The marriage survived for sixty-six years through much prayer, respect, love and dedication to the union.

The couple moved to Kansas City, MO in 1954, where they joined the Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor I. H. Henderson. Eddie served as Captain on Usher Board #2, he was active with the Laymen Ministry, he was coach and mentor to the Ladies Softball team, he started the Hospitality Ministry at the request of Pastor C. E. McLain.  He was chosen to serve as a Deacon in August 1995, and became a leader of the Naphtali Sheepfold Ministry. He was also the choir Deacon for a number of years.

Eddie held many jobs before becoming a pipe fitter at the Bendix Corp. later known as Allied Signal.  He was employed there for 22 years before retiring on medical leave in 1985.  He later was able to assist his daughter in her insurance agency as a home inspector.

After a long bout of many illnesses Eddie went Home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 3, 2019.

He leaves to celebrate his homegoing: his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Etta (Ken) McKenzie and Debra (Louvertt) Doss of Taylor, MI; grandson, Kenneth, Jr. (Dawn) of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Kamille; sisters, Polly Fisher of Scottsville, TX and Joyce Perkins; brother, Will Youree (Mildred) King; brother-in-law, John (Carolyn Sue) Thomson; sister-in-law, Thelma Silmon all of Marshall, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services for Mr. King will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
