Edith Seo Doe's Obituary
Ma Edith Seo Doe was born on January 1, 1944, unto the union of Mr. Karlar Doelu and Yarhee Jorwar, in Duweh Town, Konobo Statutory District, Grand Gedeh County, Liberia. She was the first of four children.
Ma Edith got married to Mr. Borbor Kpallah Zulu and had seven children, four boys and three girls. Her husband and two of her children, Tailey Zulu and Beatrice Zulu predeceased her.
Ma Edith was a successful farmer who raised her family after the demise of her husband till the war broke out in Liberia in 1990. She, together with her children and grandchildren, was taken to the refugee camp in Peace Town, Cote D'Ivoire, through the UN evacuation program. After 13 years of stay in the refugee camp, she was enrolled in the refugee resettlement program to the US with five of her grandchildren. She finally arrived in the US and settled in Houston, Texas in 2004, at age 60 with five grandchildren aged 4, 6, 8, 12, and 14. Being an old woman with no formal education and little knowledge of English language leaves behind interesting experiences and unforgettable memories. She enrolled in ESL program and graduated being able to write her name, phone number and address. She managed to survive and raise her grandchildren until she relocated to Kansas City, Kansas in 2007. Starting as a family of 6, the family grew with more of her children joining her through the refugee resettlement program.
Ma Edith is survived by: five children, Suzannah, Mabel, Anthony, Jellor and Chelley; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister; several cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of relatives in the USA, Europe, Liberia, Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana and other parts of the world.
Ma Edith was a devoted Christian, a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kansas City MO. Being known for her gentle disposition and peace loving heart, she was the central pillar of family unity. She will be forever missed for her immeasurable sacrifices and love she demonstrated to the family and all the people she met in her lifetime. May her soul rest in peace.
Services for Ms. Doe will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until service time Saturday at the Church.
