Edith Teresa Giles' Obituary
Edith and Herbert shared more than 50 years of marriage and together raised five wonderful children: Michael, Sr., Brian (Caroline), Susan Barnes (Floyd), Lisa Williams and Ellen Barnes (Tony). They were then blessed with thirteen grandchildren: Amanda, Sarah, Michael, Jr., Aaron, Naomi, Rachel, Dominique, Jamaal, Easton, Tyler, Eva, Evan (Deceased), Seth and Adeline. Their six great-grandchildren are Anthony Jasmine, Vanessa, Juana, Jonathan and Francisco, Amelia, Jesse and Jacob; great-great-grandchildren Elijah, Uriah, Marcy, Trent, Morgan and Lincoln.
Edith was born July 30, 1931, in Mobile, Alabama.
She and her family moved to Lorain, Ohio where she attended Lorain High School. After high school she joined the U. S. Army and received an honorable discharge in 1953.
Herbert and Edith united their family with Friendship Baptist Church in 1971, Dr. I. H. Henderson, Pastor. Edith has served as a Deaconess, Usher & Health Unit Ministry and was a past President of the Women's Missionary Union.
Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert, her father, James Chapman, mother Hestella Wilson, brothers, James Chapman and Leonard Chapman; son-in-law, Floyd (Susan) Barnes.
Edith and Herbert are survived by their children, sons and daughters-in-law, Ingels Elementary family, one brother and two sisters.
Service for Mrs. Giles will be held11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
