Edith Elaine Henry was born August 11 , 1969, to Charles Edward and Melvina Beret Henry in Kansas City, Missouri.  She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Henry and her grandparents, Melvin and Jewel Williams.

Edith was baptized at the age of 13 by the late Rev. A. M. Hudson Sr. at the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO.  She sang in the Youth Choir, was an Usher and a member of the Red Circle Girls Missionary Auxiliary.  Edie was currently a member of the True Light Church of The Nazarene under the leadership of Pastor Alice Piggee-Wallack.

She attended Linwood Elementary School and graduated from Central High School.  Edith received a Certificate in Culinary Arts from Job Corp Center of Excelsior Springs, MO.  She also received an Associate's Degree as a Dental Hygienist from Concord Career College.

Edith had several jobs including security guard, cook, and various other maintenance positions.  Her last position was as a concession stand cook prep for the Kansas City Royals.

She loved her family and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.  Edie enjoyed taking them to family reunions, movies, amusement parks and special events around Kansas City.  Her number one joy was cooking for her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Karlena Bronte' Lane; two sons , Trevalle Michael Lane and Terrance Giovanni Smith; four grandchildren plus, Trevalle Michael Lane Jr., Harmony Neaveh Ross, Trenton Lamar Charles Lane, Marquis Lamont Madden Jr. and Marlena Madden (on-the-way); a sister , Katherine D. Henry; her aunts/moms, Dr. Grace Acklin and Dr. Sylvia McDaniels; three adopted sons, James Graham, Aaron Payne and Hosea Ross; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Services for Ms. Henry will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 20, 2018, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alice Piggee-Wallack of True Light Church of The Nazarene officiating.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the chapel.
