Edmund George Wright was known by his middle name "George."

George was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 17, 1955, to the union of Willie and Katherine Wright. George was preceded in death by his father, Willie Wright; brothers, Stanley Adams Wright Sr., Otha Lee Austin; two nephews, Stanley Adams Wright Jr. and Rodney Austin.

George accepted Christ at an early age. He received his education from the Kansas City, Missouri School District.  After high school, he attended Penn Valley Community College.

George worked at Butternut Bakery and various jobs.  He died unexpectedly on Saturday March 25, 2023, at 68 years of age.

While his family and friends are shocked by his death, they are thankful for his life! George was a quiet soul who relished the simple pleasure of life.

He enjoyed feeding birds, stray cats and dogs. He also enjoyed helping the homeless.  He kept the neighborhood clean from litter and he enjoyed reading his Bible.

He was very thoughtful and generous with his money and loved giving gifts to children as well as to the elderly.

To know him was to love him.

Shortly before his death, George desired to attend Ward Chapel/Cain Grant AME Church with his Aunt Winona for several Sundays.

George leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Katherine Wright; brothers, DeWayne Adams Wright Sr., Jerome Dudley and Rickey A. Lee (all of Kansas City, Missouri), and Melvin Brown of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Bertha Ann Packnett of Kansas City, Missouri; aunts, Louise Hill, Willie Mae Tinner, Addie (Noble) Atkinson, Vera Wright, Linrose Wright and Winona Wright (all of Kansas City, Missouri); a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services for Mr. White will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at E. S. Eley and Sons Funeral Chapel, Inc.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call 10:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel.
