Elder Alphonso Bell, 87, died on Sunday, May 26, 2019, in Kansas City, MO.  He was born on February 19, 1932, in Kansas City, MO to Mr. Thomas N. Bell and Mrs. Gola Bell.  He was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District.

He met and married the beautiful Delores Smith and to this union four children were born. He was employed by several companies but worked at the Ford Motor Company for 31 years.  He also worked as a professional painter for private customers over a period of 40 years.

Elder Alphonso Bell was called, chosen and accepting of his call to the ministry, for the Lord.  He was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ for over 40 years.  Elder Bell grew up at Barker temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop V.M Barker.  He remained a faithful member of Barker Temple C.O.G.I.C. now called Barker Memorial Cathedral of Praise for a life time.  Elder Bell loved the Lord, his family, and the church.  He enjoyed his service for the Lord in the church, in his family and the community.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving a wife of 70 years, Mother Delores Bell; four children: Janice Slaughter, Alphonso Bell Jr., Rosalind Jordan and Melanie Cochran; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Barker Temple Memorial Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the Church.
