Emerson Stewart Perry was born in Gloster, Mississippi on September 23, 1953. He was the eldest of his parents' five children. Emerson passed away on April 04, 2024, in Blue Springs, Missouri.

After graduating from Amite County High School in Gloster, Mississippi, in 1971, Emerson relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. He lived in Missouri for over fifty-two years, attending the P.V.C.C. Community College.

Emerson worked in the culinary industry while running a concierge service. He remained an avid sports fan, particularly of football, which he played in high school and continued to enjoy throughout his adult life.

Emerson's parents and brother, Earl Halbert, preceded him in death. However, he is survived by his sisters, Naomi Perry of Centreville, MS, and Verna Hawkins of Madison, MS, and his brother, Larry Perry (Jeanette) of Clinton, MS. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and friends. Two aunts, Jeanette Perry of Gloster, MS, and Pattie Perry of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and one uncle, Alvin Bell of Chicago, Illinois, also mourn his loss.
