Ernest Walker (Chuck) Charity, Jr. passed away on November 17, 2020, at his home. Ernest was born October 29, 1944, to Reverend Ernest Charity, Sr. and Juanita (Janes) Charity in Charles City, Virginia. He was one of four children.  Mr. Charity was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest, Sr. and Juanita; sisters Barbara Charity and Audrey Charity Crewe.

He attended elementary and high school in Charles City, VA. Chuck acquired many friends who gave him the endearing nickname of  "Mule". He spoke often of them in life, with funny stories of their adventures.   After graduation from Ruthville High School in Charles City, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. There, he met his wife, Diane Charity. From that marriage, one child, Audrey Teresa Charity was born. Ernest embraced Audrey's brother, Michael as his own.

The Charity's moved back to Kansas City in 1968. In 1970, he moved back to Virginia where he worked for the City of Richmond. He returned to Kansas City in 1990, and was employed by the KC Housing Authority,  and the Chiefs' and Royals' Stadium.

Chuck was a fun-loving individual whose wit and humorous observations of life are treasured by all who knew him. He loved music, especially the Commodores. He acquired another nickname:  "Easy".

He held a close bond with his loving daughter, Audrey. They may have lived far apart but were ever so close by telephoneand video. Chuck and his 'son', Michael always shared fond memories and adventures of Audrey, Richard, Marion and Michael,   growing up in Parade Park Homes.

His beloved Mother In-law, Edna Stiggers treated Chuck like the son she never had. He, in turn, took great care of her. Anytime she wanted to go anywhere in Kansas City, Chuck was there to drive her to her many destinations.

Mr. Charity leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Audrey T. Charity (Efrem), Dallas, TX; son Michael J. Charity and two grandchildren, Michael E. and Mion Charity, Kansas City, MO, sister LaVerne Charity Greenhill (Chris) niece Amelia Cotten (Wendell),  nephew Stephen Charity (Rika) all of Virginia. Many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Dawn White.

Celebration of Life for Mr. Charity will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 11:30 am at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel North.  Burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery.  Friends may call 10:30 a.m. until service time at the chapel.
