Ethel Marie Glover-Carter was born November 4, 1924, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of a set of twin girls born to Leon and Estella Glover.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Carter, both parents, sisters, Katherine Corbin, Emma Thomas, Erma Jean Reid; brothers, Ellis Glover, Prentis Glover, Henry Glover, Wendell Glover and Thurman Glover.

At the age of 13 Ethel came to know the Lord and was baptized at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Seward, OK.  She graduated eighth grade at Sunnyside Country School where she met and later joined in holy matrimony to John E. Carter in 1946.  Shortly after they wed they moved to Kansas City.  From this union two daughters were born.

Ethel was a homemaker and neighborhood child care provider in TB Watkins for over twenty years.  She estimated that during that time frame she took care of at least one hundred children.  In her spare time she took care of her birds, fish and plants; doing crossword puzzles with her grandchildren, cross stitching and embroidery.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Evelyn (James) Hill and Mary Carter both of Kansas City; one sister, Ruthel Vaden of Guthrie, OK; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services for Mrs. Carter will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2022, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Burial Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the chapel.
