Ethel Collins was born March 28, 1937, in Sallis, Mississippi.  She was the 4th of 14 children born to C.D. and Vera Collins.  She was predeceased by her parents and 4 sisters, Eris, Dora, Kassie, and Mary.

Ethel was raised in a Christian home by loving parents.  Her mother sent her to Chicago as a young adult to help an aunt.  She ended up staying there until she moved permanently to Kansas City, MO.

She was proud of her accomplishments as a member of Toastmasters International, the St. Therese Little Flower Gospel Choir and she loved her job as a companion to a few of Kansas City's elite elderly.  She was a member at Unity Temple on the Plaza before she made her Profession of Faith and became a member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church on April 6, 1980.  One of her joys was volunteering and working with the late Forestine Holman and the late Fr. Norman Rotert. Ethel loved her St. Therese Community and would stay in touch every week when she wasn't able to attend.

Charlie Andrews, a member of St. Therese remembers meeting Ethel at church one Sunday morning as she waited for her ride share to show up.  It never did, so she took her home, and that began a friendship which lasted for 10 or so years. Ethel enjoyed sharing with Charlie's family, and went to a few of the family gatherings over the years.

All those around Ethel witnessed her love for the Lord which could be contagious!  It was clear that she believed and trusted in God because a conversation with her included that fact and she invited others to do the same. She loved the LORD and was a devoted follower of all Christian TV and radio programs.  She loved praising GOD at every opportunity.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn, and sisters, Margaret, Doris, Helen, Emma, Lillie, Lynn, Hattie and Nancy and the youngest and only brother, Michael and a host of other family and friends.

Services for Ms. Collins were held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at St. Therese Catholic Church. Burial Blue Ridge Lawn Memorial Gardens.
