Floyd Chatman was born December 3, 1941, in Bristow, OK to Nettie Munson Birch and Leroy Chatman Floyd was the oldest of three children.  He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, Milton W. Birch, Jr. and sister, Vivian B. Woolridge.

He confessed his faith in Christ at the age of 15 and was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Bristow, OK.  Floyd serviced his country in the U S. Army from July 1960 to November 1968.  After received an honorable discharge and moved to Kansas City, where he met "the apple of his eye and soul mate, His Donna!"  It was love at first sight.  They later married and remained married for 46 years.  They raised 2 children; daughter, Deidra and son, Damon, along with his oldest daughter, Sheila who was raised by his mother.

Floyd considered himself a pit master long before the term was ever thought of.  He loved to grill and cook and did so until he became ill.  When friends and family knew Floyd was grilling, everyone came over.

Floyd J. Chatman, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in Kansas City, MO.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Donna Borens Chatman; daughters, Sheila Chatman-Harrison and Deidra Chatman all of KCMO; son, Damon Chatman of Wichita, KS; two brothers, Kenneth Birch of Tulsa, OK and Milton W. Birch, Jr. of KCMO; stepsister, Lois Birch of Bartlesville, OK; special friend, Frank Owens of KCMO; cousin, Floyd Guest of Tulsa, OK; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; 4 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service for Mr. Chatman will be held 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery.
