Frances Dean Gray's Obituary
Frances Dean Gray, 62, was born July 10, 1956, to the union of Thomas Leek, Sr. and Lucinda Baker in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Both parents, her husband, Norris W Gray, Jr. "Jack"; two sisters, Loubertha Leek and Vera M. McBarton; all three brothers, Thomas Leek, Jr., Willie B. Leek and Sylvester Leek preceded her in death.
She spent some of her childhood in Aberdeen, MS until her family later relocated to the Kansas City area. Frances later graduated from California Technical High School in 1985 and in 2014, from Heritage College as a Pharmacy Technician.
Frances was employed at and retired from Research Medical Center after 27 years of service. Beginning her career there as a Dietary Aide and advancing to a Dialysis Technician. She then was employed for over 10 years as a Doctor's Secretary at KU Medical Center until medical retirement in 2016.
On July 1, 1982, she married Norris "Jack" W. Gray, Sr. They were married for 27 years, until his untimely passing on August 2, 2009.
Frances accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a very devout Christian. She positively impacted many lives. She was presently a member of Victory Temple Christian Life Center under the leadership of Bishop Keith and LaTonya Tribitt, Sr. In her spiritual journey she was active in several ministries at the church including serving on the Usher Board and the Praise Dance Ministry. Throughout her life's many trials and tribulations, Frances' trust in the Lord never faltered; she never gave up, nor blamed anyone. Frances's greatest love was her family.
She departed this life on Monday, November 19, 2018, at the home. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew her and her kind spirit.
She leaves to cherish her many great memories: her daughters, Pastor Marcella D. Taylor (Kollin) and Calvetta "Baby" M. Leek-Couch (Brent); sister, Barbara Johnson; stepmother, Evangelist Maxine Leek; stepbrother, Bishop Calvin Walker; stepsisters, Mariyam Richardson and Linda Walker; granddaughters, Brittan Leek, Briana Frazier, Mona Couch and Sandra Piutau all of Kansas City, MO; grandsons, Raschiem Luna of Las Vegas, NV and Brent W. Couch, Jr. of KCMO; great-grandsons, Jayceon Lindsey and Royal Frazier; sisters-in-law, Jackie Coolidge (John), Linda Carter (Rick) all of KCMO and Ada Gray of Los Angeles, CA; brothers-in-law, Pastor Kenneth Gray (Carol) and Ronnie Gray, Sr.; two "Besties", Chelly Clay Johnson and Sharon Nimrod both of KCMO and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services for Mrs. Gray will be held 1:00 P.M. December 1, 2018, at Victory Temple Christian Life Center. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the Church.
