Freddie Aaron Bearden departed this life on July 7, 2026, at 9:20 p.m. He was born on October 20, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Alice Dickey and Freddie Pouncil. Shortly after his birth, he was adopted by Hess Bearden and Fannie Bearden.

Freddie was raised on a farm in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he attended school in the Pine Bluff School District. After graduating from high school, he relocated to Oakland, California, where he worked on ships for many years.

In 1994, Freddie moved back to Kansas City, Missouri, where he started a life with Pamela Allen and her son, Rian Poindexter. They were united in marriage on May 24, 1997, and to this union one daughter, Ebone Bearden, was born.

Freddie loved life and enjoyed having a good time. He especially loved playing casino games and restoring old trucks. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always trying to make people laugh. Because of his striking resemblance, infectious laughter, and comedic personality, he earned the nickname "Bernie Mac," a name by which many people knew him. Freddie also enjoyed dressing sharp and wearing stylish brimmed hats. He always looked as though he had stepped right out of Esquire Magazine.

Freddie was employed at Tamm Lumber Company, where he worked as a delivery driver from 1995 to 2001. On July 2, 2001, he began his career with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (Metro) as a Bus Operator. He faithfully served in that role until December 31, 2019, when illness forced him into disability leave.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Hess and Fannie Bearden; his biological father, Freddie Pouncil; his stepmother, Lois Pouncil; his sister, Frankie M. Jones; and his brother, Lionel Hamilton-Bey.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kentra Jaynail Meriwether-Dickey, Rian Poindexter, and Ebone Bearden; his grandchildren, Eziah Morris and Kanan Poindexter; his former wife, Pamela Allen-Bearden; his siblings, Isaac Bearden, Jr., Angela Everidge-Jones, Khalilah "Kelle" Everidge-Pouncil, Fredrick Everidge-Pouncil, Jovanna Nelson, and Felisa Phillips; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Freddie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His laughter, kindness, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
