Gary Gene Taylor, Sr.'s Obituary
Gary Gene Taylor, Sr. was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 13, 1964. He
was was the first child born to the union of Flora Mae and Donald Edward Taylor,
Sr.
Gary was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public school system attending
Melcher Elementary School, Martin Luther King Jr. High School and graduating from
Van Horn Senior High school in the Class of 1982. After high school he attended
Penn Valley Community college before he began his career with the Social Security A
dministration.
In 1990, Gary married Latrice Carroll and to that union two children were born,
Gary Gene Taylor Jr. and Alexander Edward Taylor. Gary married Tracy Taylor in
2012 and they remained together until his passing.
Gary work for the Social Security Administration for many years prior to retiring
in August 2012. After retiring from the Social Security Administration, he worked
a variety of position with the last one being the U.S. Census Bureau. He was a
lifelong member of Bethel AME church. When not working he enjoyed spending his
time with his grandchildren, his childhood friends, his Kansas City Chiefs and
working with the Vineyard Neighborhood Association on a variety of activities.
He departed life on Friday, June 12, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospice Center after a
nineteen-month bout with cancer.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tracy Taylor, his children; Gary
Taylor, Jr., Kansas City, MO and Alexander Taylor, Kansas City, MO, his step
children Tyesha Giles and DJ Allen both of Kansas City, MO, his brothers: Donald
Taylor, Jr. (Carmella), Denver, CO, Anthony Jones, Kansas City, MO, Timothy Jones
(Valerie), Lee's Summit, MO, Ralph Taylor (Annette), Leavenworth, KS, Charles
Taylor (Stacy), Aberdeen, MA, his sisters: Donna Bryant (Harvell), Denver, CO,
Wilma Warren (Erwin), Kearney, MO, Denise Bruce (Ward), Grandview, MO, Carmen
Hall, Denver, CO, Donnetta Burke, Cedar Hill, TX and Dracy Taylor, Cedar Hill,
TX, four grandchildren: Mya, Gavin, Trinity, and Royal and a host of aunts,
uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Gary Gene Taylor will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at E.
S. Eley and Sons Funeral Chapel located at 4707 E Truman Road in Kansas City,
Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. with a
