Gayle Umelu Davidson's Obituary
Gayle Umelu-Davidson was born October 5, 1955, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Barbarita High and John Kyles. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister-Sheryl Irby.
Gayle attended school in the greater Kansas City, MO public school and was a graduate of Manual High School class of 1973. She was on the drill team. She attended Langston University and received her associate's. She was united in holy matrimony to Paul Umelu on May 18, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Later in life, Gayle married James Davidson, her childhood sweetheart, on December 23, 2013, in Southlake, TX. She worked for Pitney Bowes for 17 years before retiring. Gayle was a devoted mother to her children, loving memaw, and was the life of the party. She attended The Key Church under the leadership of Pastor Halliday. She loved doing catering events and hospitality at her church and family functions.
She leaves to cherish the memories: her husband, James Davidson, three sons: Ikechi High, Christopher Umelu, and Jered Umelu; one daughter Leona Lasker (John), one grandson Sean Lasker and two grandaughters Aaliyah Lasker and Nivea Umelu.
Her homegoing leaves a great void in the lives of her survivors: three sisters Valerie Thornton (Wallace) of Kansas City, MO, Vanessa White (Wendell) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Arnella Giles (Dale) of Fallbrook, CA. Two brothers: Anthony High (Sandra) of Kansas City, MO, Bruce High (Beverly) of Yukon, OK, and two brothers from Houston, TX. Special extended family members, many relatives, and a host of friends.
All that knew Gayle remembers the incredible stories that she told, which captivated her audience. Her love for God, love for family was evident right until her final days.
