Gearldine Stephen Wren was born December 31,1934 to Merdis Figures and Austin Stephen in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.  She accepted Christ at the early age of 12 and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor I.H. Henderson Jr.  Known to most as "Jerri" and to her grandchildren she was affectionately called "Nana." Jerri had many endeavors throughout her life. She obtained several jobs to ensure her family was well provided for, but she was a true educator at heart.  She was very passionate about her children and grandchildren.  They could recite every nursery rhyme, even the ones she made up. Her hobbies included singing, song writing, playing the piano, garage sale and thrift shopping . Her most fondest past-time was being around her children and grandchildren.

Jerri's morning motivation was to wake up singing a gospel song. Her faith never waived, she continued to sing and pray from her hospital bed. One of her all-time favorite songs was "Rough Side of the Mountain." She was notorious for her on-point quotes associated with life events.  When she was pleased with something she would say, "Put my quarter on satisfied."  If you were upset about not getting what you wanted, she would say, "Its not what you want that makes you fat, it's what you get." When there was a fuss or commotion, she would tell you, "We had a kerfuffle!" Although there were many many more quotes they all proved to be valuable lessons.

Jerri was preceded in death by her father, her daughters Victoria and Linda; sons ,Robert and Larry K; and great grandson, Jaris Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Merdis Word, aunt, Edith Marshall; daughters, Tonie,Dece,Cynthia and Randy; sons, Rashad (Phyllis), Daniel Lorenzo and Larry L.(Lisa) and from the union to Willie Wren her children she loved the same: Connie, Frances, Barbara, James and Craig; brothers, George Austin Stephen and Oscar O. Stephen (Harriet); sister, Lee Ester Boga, a host of beloved grandchildren, great grands, nieces and nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Services for Mrs. Wren will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Koinonia Bible Church.  Burial Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the church.
