Gloria Naomi Mathis was born to William and Wilma Roseberry in Kansas City, Missouri on February 18, 1940. She was preceded in death by both parents.

She united in holy matrimony to Phillip Norman Mathis, Sr. on February 9, 1958.  Five children were born to this union.

Gloria accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.  She was a faithful member of 35th Street Missionary Baptist Church.  She later joined Landmark International Deliverance & Worship Center, where she served on the Mother Board until her health failed.

She attended R. T. Coles High School, where she was a model student and was employed at Bendix for many years.

Gloria's passion was fishing, fishing, and more fishing, along with taking care of and spending time with her family, cooking, and serving others.  She was loved and affectionately known as "GRAMMY" to many others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Mathis, Sr.; son, Phillip Mathis, Jr.; grandsons, Terence Mosby, Jr. and Terrell Sutherlin; brother, John Roseberry; and sister, Juanita Holmes.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories her children, Tammie Essex, Teresa Mosby (Terry), Joan Mathis, and Steven Mathis, Sr. (Monika); she took great pride with her grandchildren, Solomon, Monic, Jermel, Shawnta, Lema, Phillip, III, Maurice, Steven, Stephan, and Harold; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Domonique, Monay, Moneka, Phillip, Jr., Jazmin, Selah, Zion, Gordyn, Winston, Evan, and Aaliyah; great-great-grandchildren, Da'Zilee and Za'Mir; sister, Audra Jackson; plus a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
