He received his education in the Kansas City School District. Harvey was employed as a cook at the Peachtree Cafeteria in Kansas City, Missouri.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Gwendolyn E. Hughes Long; children, LaTisha Marie Long, LaTasha Elaine Cooper; brothers, Kim Eric Long and Jerry N. Long, Jr.; sisters, Jerri Lynne Harvey and Donna Marie Hughes; a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Long will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Metropolitan Spiritual Church. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
