Henry Dixson , a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished God, his family, and his church family, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. Born on August 3, 1936, in Fairfax, South Carolina, to William and Dollie Mae Dixson, Henry's upbringing in the South laid the foundation for his life's journey. As the eldest of three children, he experienced the harsh realities of sharecropping and farm work. Henry had many stories to tell of plowing the fields behind Emma and Rhodie, his two trusted mules.

After graduating from Fairfax Colored High School, Henry seized his first opportunity to leave and enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Richards-Gebaur AFB, he met the love of his life, Sallie Ann Tooke. They married on November 19, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. Henry was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, where two of their children were born, and later at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois, where their youngest child joined the family.

Choosing not to re-enlist, Henry settled in Kansas City, Missouri, to be a dedicated family man. He retired from Bendix/Allied-Signal and also worked for various transportation companies, KCI Airport, and the KC Star. For a time, he even ran his own lawn care service. Henry's presence in Kansas City was deeply felt, especially within the Friendship Baptist Church community. As a devout member, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, a choir member, and the lead Deacon of Joseph Sheepfold. He was known for his enthusiastic shouts of praise during sermons.

Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sallie Dixson; and his son, Michael Dixson.

He leaves behind two daughters, Cynthia and Karen (James Perkins); three grandchildren, Collin, Justin, and Audrey; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Wesley, Izabelle, and Hazelyn; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins across the country.

Henry Dixson's legacy of love, faith, and dedication will be cherished by all who knew him.
